Savannah Region to benefit soon from all my foundations -Asamoah Gyan


Former captain of the senior national team, the Blackstars of Ghana, Asamoah Gyan, has stated that the Savannah Region of Ghana will benefit from the Asamoah Gyan foundation and the Baby Jet Under 16 tournament soon.


Speaking exclusively to Damongo based Kasha fm in a one on one interview with Mudasiru Afari Techi on Tuesday 17th October 2023, the former Sunderland striker said "My team and I are working behind the scenes in order to role out activities that will impact lives in society and also offer platforms to the younger generation to play professional football"


He added that before a young footballer could become a professional, it is necessary to be a dedicated, hardworking and educated. 


"Hardwork and dedication towards the game as well as being strong mentally is the best advice I can give to the upcoming generations, he said. 


"They (young footballers) should remain focused and educate themselves to be able to read and sign professional contracts as footballers."


The all-time top goalscorer of Ghana added that the Blackstars of Ghana will do well and hopefully win the ultimate in the next African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast because winning is generational, adding that this was a new generation after the Gyan, Muntari, Appiah, Essien and co generation. 


Still on the program, Mr Mas Ud Didi Dramani, an assistant coach of the Blackstars, recounted how he first met Asamoah Gyan wayback in 2001.


He confirmed that there was a tournament Ghana played with Nigeria in Ghana, and Gyan had missed many chances in the game, which got him dejected. 


according to him, he e went to Gyan and motivated him, and that propelled Gyan to score the winning goal in Nigeria. 


He added that the technical team of the Blackstars are currently monitoring and naturing potential talents and that every good player is a potential Blackstars player, but depending on how they develop themselves.


Asamoah Gyan was full of praise to Coach Mas Ud Didi Dramani. He eulogiesed him and said that Didi helped in shaping his career with several pieces of advice.


Baby Jet again mentioned that he would still need the services and assistance from the Blackstars Assistant Coach in his bid to become an astute coach in the near future. 


He thanked the management of Kasha Fm for granting him the platform to reconnect with his fans and propagate his off the field activities and the need to provide platforms for the next generation in football development.


Meanwhile, Mr Samuel Anin Addo, who is the manager of Asamoah Gyan, confirmed that the Baby Jet under 16 tournament is very impactful.


He added that Asamoah Gyan is not only improving lives in society through health and capital projects but also in education and helping underprivileged communities.


Asamoah Gyan used the opportunity to thank the king and overlord of the Gonja kingdom, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jawu (l), and all stakeholders in the Savannah Region for showing him genuine love. He stated that he would keep the Savannah Region in mind with his foundation and other projects.
