Damongo Nursing and Midwifery Training College holds joint matriculation and graduation ceremony

 

The Damongo Nursing and Midwifery Training College at Damongo in the Savannah Region has held a joint matriculation and graduation ceremony for its latest batch of graduands and matriculants.


The colorful ceremony was held on the theme, "Our Nurses, Our Future. Cultivating Discipline for Academic Excellence" which had various stakeholders in attendance.


Speaking at the event, the Principal of the College, Hajia Rabi Iddrisu revealed that for the 2023/2024 admission cycle, the college received over 2000 applications for only about 580 slots available for the three programs that the college runs.


"Out of the 580 students admitted, 415 are females and 165 are males. A total of 277 students are admitted into the NAC program and 199 into the RGN program".


Hajia Rabi disclosed further that the college also admitted its first batch of 109 students for the diploma in Midwifery program after successfully going through a rigorous processes of accreditation.


She seized the opportunity to remind the matriculants of the need to put in the required dedication, hard work and discipline to accomplish their quest of becoming professional nurses.

The Principal also warned that the college will not hesitate to dismiss or demote any student who falls short of the academic standards of the school.


"During your orientation and other platforms of interaction between the faculty and students, you were informed of the standards required for academic progression. The college will not hesitate to dismiss or demote any student who falls short of these standards", she admonished.


She also used the platform to congratulate the graduands for their "dedication, discipline and hard work which has culminated in the successful completion of their various programs of study".


Graduands who excelled in their various programs of study were awarded with laptops and citations.

The graduation jointly with the matriculation of fresh students did not only withness the graduating of the 2022/2023-year group but also the last three-year group including 2019/2020, 2020/2021 and 2021/2022-year group which effectively brings the number of graduating year groups to four.


The delay in graduation of the last three-year groups was orchestrated by restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
