On Sunday, May 19, 2024, the Damongo-based Lordina Ladies, a group affiliated with the National Democratic Congress, visited His Royal Majesty Jira Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, the King and overlord of the Gonja kingdom, to honor his birthday celebrated earlier in the week.
The delegation, comprising about one hundred members, conducted a cleanup exercise around the King's residence before meeting him.
As part of their visit, they presented a framed picture of the King to honour his successful year on the throne and his birthday.
The inscription on the picture read, "Lordina Ladies Wishes you Jira Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale (I) A Happy Birthday, May You Live Long." They extended their wishes for Allah's blessings and prosperity to the King.
In his address, Jira Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I expressed his gratitude to the Lordina Ladies for honouring him.
He emphasized that those who wish him well would receive abundant blessings from God, while those who harbour ill will against him would be consumed by divine retribution.
"Thanks for everything, I am grateful. If you do good to me, it goes to God, and when you do bad against me, He will consume you," he stated. "May everything you want in life be fulfilled. I thank you for the visit, the cleanup exercise, and your birthday present."
In a gesture of appreciation, the King gifted the Lordina Ladies an undisclosed amount of money to be used for water, by tradition.
