The Bole District Assembly, in partnership with the STAR-Ghana Foundation and NORTH-CODE Ghana, has launched a 40-unit fenced garden pilot project aimed at promoting sustainable agriculture in the district.

Funded by the STAR-Ghana Foundation, this initiative is designed to benefit local farmers and enhance agricultural practices.

Frederick Nuuri-Teg, Northern Ghana Manager of STAR-Ghana Foundation, expressed his excitement for the project, highlighting its potential to develop sustainable agricultural practices and support vulnerable community groups.

He also emphasized that the project would help mitigate illegal mining (galamsey) activities in the district.

Mr. Nuuri-Teg stated that their partnership aims to develop sustainable, inclusive, and productive irrigation in Northern Ghana, supporting farmers and youth in agriculture to enhance their livelihoods and well-being.

As part of the extension support provided, beneficiaries will receive training on land suitability and crop selection. Mr. Nuuri-Teg encouraged traditional leaders and community members to support the project to ensure its success.

Mr. Dokurugu Andrew, Technical Lead for NORTH-CODE Ghana, emphasized the partnership with STAR-Ghana Foundation, noting their joint efforts to bring peace and security by providing alternatives to unregulated mining.

Veronica Alele Heimng, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bole District urged beneficiaries to take this first phase seriously to attract further support and ensure the project's long-term success in the district.
