The paramount chief for the Busunu traditional area in the Savannah region, Busunu Wura Moenassah Jonokpowu has assured the National Democratic Congress, NDC parliamentary candidate for the constituency, Adam Muntawakilu of the support of the community and their ancestors to win the Damongo seat in December.
The Busunu Wura gave the assurance when Mr. Muntawakilu, who until January 2021 was the MP for the area paid a courtesy call on him to begin a three days campaign in the Busunu Zone in his bid to reclaim the seat.
The Busunu Wura, speaking through his linguist referred to Muntawakilu as their son who did a lot for them when he was DCE and MP.
"The way you have come here, we welcome you, you are our son and we assure you of our blessings, and our ancestors are behind you to win the leadership that you are seeking."
Other chiefs at the palace took turns to assure Mr. Muntawakilu of their support whilst enumerating some of the projects implemented by the erstwhile John Dramani Mahama administration under which Muntawakilu served.
The Queen Mother of Busunu said, "We didn't have any jobs here, but now there are freezers, there are many shops, we watch television, all because you gave us electricity so we are behind you."
Mr. Muntawakil, thanked the chiefs for the warm welcome and their words of encouragement and support.
He reminded them of what John Mahama and himself did for the Busunu area in the past, amongst which are the extension of electricity to Busunu and its environs, the Sawla Fufulso road project which passed through the area, the construction of schools and provision of water.
He assured them the next government that will be formed by John Mahama will do even more with him as their loyal representative.
This comes as the campaign towards the December polls heats up.
Meanwhile, the incumbent member of parliament for the area is serving a ban from all palaces in Gonjaland placed on him by the Yagbonwura for disrespecting and undermining his authority.
