Mahama should appoint from Savannah, only people who has the region at heart - Youth group appeal to Yagbonwura

A youth group in the Savannah region has called on the Yagbonwura to ensure only persons who have the interest of the region are appointed from the region to serve in the next John Mahama government.

The group argued that a situation where appointees from the region use their positions and influence for their personal interests and dominate everyone else in the region will not be countenance, hence their call.

They pleaded with the Overlord of Gonja, Yagbonwura Bii Kunuto Soale Jewu I, to lead the process of ensuring only persons who have shown resolve to the development of the region are appointed by H. E. John Mahama to serve.

Spokesman for the group who were at the Jakpa palace to congratulate the Yagbonwura on the election of John Mahama as a grandson of Jakpa, Agrowura Musah Abdul Fatawu said the youth of Gonja are excited their brother has been reelected to serve Ghana as president.

"Jira, we are excited our brother has been reelected to serve as president of our country so we are here to congratulate you, you are his grandfather, you are our grandfather because we all together with John Dramani Mahama come from this palace so congratulations to you."

"We know our brother has said he will ensure every region is well represented in his government, we are interested in our young Savannah region, so we just want to add our voice to you to tell our senior brother to appoint people who will respect you and also fight for the development of the entire region."

"We don't want to see what happened in the past where people with political power does only what will benefit them and their families to the detriment of everything else in Gonjaland."

In his response, the Yagbonwura expressed his excitement at the thinking and resolve of the youth.

"It gives me joy to see the youth of Gonja put Gonjaland first. You call is not for your personal benefit but that of our land, thank you."

He expressed hope that John Mahama would do what is best for the region, not that of individuals.

"I know Mahama will hear you, and he will do what is right for our region, I know he will leave a great legacy for this land, so he will do what is right for us."
