The Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Mr. Julius Neequaye Kotey, has officially commissioned a new DVLA office in Bole, Savannah Region, on Thursday, June 5, 2025.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Mr. Kotey emphasized that the decision to establish the office in Bole was not influenced by any lobbying or political pressure as purported.
“This is not about competition between towns. Bole was chosen purely on merit, based on the data we gathered. The goal is to bring services closer to the people where they are most needed,” he stated.
Mr. Kotey explained that the new office aims to make vehicle registration and licensing more accessible to residents, especially those with unregistered cars, motorbikes, and tricycles.
He assured the public of efficient service delivery and noted that native staff members have been employed to assist clients who may not speak English, ensuring effective communication and smooth processes.
The CEO also cautioned the public against making extra payments and urged anyone charged above the approved fees to report such incidents immediately.
“This office belongs to the people of Bole, and Savannah as a whole we want to ensure transparency in our operations. Overpayment and illegal charges will not be tolerated,” he warned.
The Bole DVLA office is the second to be commissioned under the Authority’s ongoing expansion agenda, following the opening of a similar facility in Adenta. Mr. Kotey revealed that several other offices will soon be established across the country to enhance accessibility and eliminate the need for middlemen.
“We are opening more branches nationwide so that people can deal directly with DVLA staff. There is no need for agents or middlemem,” he added.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by the MP for Bole-Bamboi, Hon. Sulemana Ori, the DCE, traditional authorities, members of the clergy, and some community members.
