The Women Wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Damongo Constituency has issued a three-day ultimatum to party and government officials, demanding answers over what they describe as a humiliating reversal of a public appointment.
In a strongly worded petition, the women expressed shock and disappointment after their Constituency Women Organiser, Madam Afishata Salia was publicly named by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) as the new School Feeding Coordinator only for the appointment to be later denied, with no formal letter ever issued.
“We had been led to believe that the appointment was confirmed. The subsequent denial has caused us, the Women Wing, immense embarrassment and distress,” the petition stated.
The petition was signed by Lansah Wasila, a branch Women Organisers Secretary, and endorsed by all 67 women organisers in the constituency.
The group is demanding a formal explanation within three days, warning that failure to respond will result in a complete boycott of all NDC programmes by women in the Damongo Constituency.
In addition to the MCE, copies of the petition were sent to the NDC Constituency Chairman, Regional Chairman, Regional Women Organiser, and the Managing Director of Ghana Water Limited.
The group is calling for transparency and accountability from both the party leadership and the municipal authorities involved, stating that the credibility and morale of the grassroots women have been deeply affected by the incident.
As of the time of filing this report, none of the copied parties had officially responded to the petition.
