The Paramount Chief of the Damongo Traditional Area, Damongowura Seidu Boresa (I), has called for renewed commitment to peace, unity, and development in Damongo, following years of disturbances that tested the fabric of the community’s cohesion.
Delivering his 2025 Damba Festival message, the Damongowura expressed gratitude to all stakeholders who contributed to the restoration of peace in the area. He acknowledged the efforts of government agencies, traditional leaders, security services, religious authorities, and peace councils in restoring calm and rebuilding trust among the people.
“Damongo is healing, and with the healing comes responsibility,” he declared, stressing that true peace must be matched with visible development.
The Chief appealed to the government to prioritize key areas of development in Damongo and its surrounding communities. He called for:
Improved access to potable water to ensure the health and well-being of residents.
An enhanced education system, including well-structured classrooms, modern libraries, up-to-date learning tools, and the replacement of outdated textbooks.
A comprehensive review of healthcare delivery, with strengthened health infrastructure to meet the growing needs of the population.
Upgrading of the Damongo Nurses Training College and the expedited granting of full accreditation by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission.
Damongowura Seidu Boresa(I) further raised concern over the increasing challenge of drug abuse among the youth, urging families, community leaders, and government agencies to work together to curb the menace.
He emphasized that the Damba Festival is not only a celebration of culture and tradition but also a moment of reflection and renewal. “As we dance, sing, and rejoice, let us also commit ourselves to building a healthier, more educated, and more united Damongo,” he said.
The 2025 Damba Festival, which marks the return of unity and full participation of all sub-chiefs and queen mothers after years of division, is expected to serve as a turning point for the traditional area.
