Former Assemblyman for the Kumbo Electoral Area, Hon.Mohammed Yakubu, has formally declared his intention to contest for the position of Organizing Secretary of the Damongo Senior High School Old Students Association (DASSOSA).
His announcement has been welcomed by many old students and community members who believe his proven leadership, discipline, and longstanding service to the West Gonja area make him an ideal candidate for the role.
Hon. Mohammed Yakubu brings nearly two decades of experience in public service, education administration, and grassroots development. As a Municipal Education Officer, he supported the implementation of national education policies, guided teachers on curriculum delivery, and ensured effective supervision across basic schools in the municipality.
Before that, he served as Headmaster of Jakpa JHS and Murugu R/C JHS, where he provided strong academic leadership, improved school-community relations, and fostered a supportive learning environment that enhanced student performance.
His impact also extends beyond the classroom. As a Field Officer for the Village Savings & Loans Association (VSLA) under Jaksally Development Organization and CARE International, he helped empower over 3,000 rural women through financial literacy training, coaching, and linking savings groups to formal banks, strengthening household livelihoods in several communities.
Members of DASSOSA describe Hon. Yakubu as an organized, dedicated, and unifying figure qualities they believe are essential for revitalizing mobilization efforts and strengthening the association’s activities and engagements.
As the election process gathers momentum, many are confident that Hon. Mohammed Yakubu’s leadership will bring renewed energy, unity, and progress to DASSOSA.
