The Managing Director of Ghana Water Company Limited, Adam Mutawakilu Garlus, has extended financial support of GH¢50,000 to a widow in Damongo to help her establish a business and care for her family.
The beneficiary, Tiduro Amishetu, lost her husband, Sibenlira Muakaila, who died from gunshot wounds sustained during the 2024 general election standoff in the area.
The latest donation forms part of ongoing support from the GWL boss, who has maintained close contact with the bereaved family since the incident.
The financial assistance is expected to empower the widow to start a sustainable business and provide for her three children.
In a related gesture, Mr. Mutawakilu also donated GH¢10,000 to support the medical review of a young girl who recently underwent surgery.
Meanwhile, during his visit to Damongo, the GWL Managing Director paid a courtesy call on the King of Gonjaland, Yagbonwura Bikunuto Jewu Soale I, and the Damongowura, Seidu Kelly Boresa I.
The visit was to officially brief them on the upcoming Damongo Water Project, which is expected to commence later this year.
The project is anticipated to improve water supply in the municipality and surrounding communities.
