A communication team member of the opposition National Democratic Congress for Damongo constituency, Aliu Mahama Abubakari has berated president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo for failing to live up to the high expectations of Ghanaians.
Speaking on Kasha Fm’s Ashumaa Savannah on Monday, April 3, 2023, Mr. Aliu intimated that the people of Ghana voted for the New Patriotic Party with high hopes, but those hopes have been dashed completely.
According to him, Ghanaians in the 2016 general elections voted massively for president Akufo Addo on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party with hopes that Ghana will witness tremendous progress and prosperity, but six years on, untold hardship is what the regime has unleashed on them.
"Ghanaians in 2016 fell for the NPP and President Akuffo Addo’s mouth-watering promises, but what is our story today as a country?" he quizzed.
He continued, "the people of Ghana thought the promises made to them by the NPP in 2016 would transcend into something meaningful to spur socio-economic development of our country but we are not seeing any mark of improvement in our lives."
He chastised the government for grossly mismanaging the economy and intimated that it is wrong for the government to continue to blame the Covid-19 pandemic for Ghana’s economic woes.
He described President Akudo Addo’s government as the most clueless and reckless administration in the history of the 4th Republic.
He also asked the government to take full responsibility instead of the several attempts to rescue itself from blame with respect to the state of the economy.
