Controversy has sparked over the decision to make Northern music crooner Fancy Gadam the headline artist for this year's Buipewura Jinapor II Damba dubbed BUDAFEST-23 performance.
It is alleged that Fancy Gadam acting through his management indirectly lobbied for his inclusion and subsequently springboarding it.
In an interaction with a member of the entertainment committee for the event, Adam Akilu Gideon also know as Abrantie, clarified that Fancy Gadam's courtesy call on Buipewura Jira coupled with his hard work invariably coerced the decision.
Akilu Gideon further postulated that other Gonjaland artists seeking to be a part of the musical performance should thank Fancy Gadam because in his view, the purported lobbying by him will provide a platform for artirts in the region to propel their brands.
But in a swift and divergent reply, Manager for King Zabaga, Abubakari Saddique popularly known as SD1, expressed his disappointment at the comments uttered by Gideon.
The artist manager also lamented that even artists from the host town have been neglected which is detrimental to strides by stakeholders to enhance music in the area.
He also alleged that he made several efforts to have his artist featured on the event but all the attempts proved unsuccessful despite reaching out to integral cogs of the event including Sheila, daughter of Buipe-Wura, Secretary to the chief, Nerepewura Panfia, Prince Gbanso Busunu, Zion Rauf amongst others.
He laamponed the spirited defence by Gideon and wondered whether individuals around Buipewura wouldn't have supported local artists without Gadam's alleged lobbying.
The development underscores the challenges in promoting Gonjaland Music.
SD1 has since clamoured for crucial and competent management teams with collective dedication to advance the industry in the Savannah Region.
