Damongo water is coming - Jinapor assures again

The Member of Parliament for Damongo constituency, Samuel Abdulai Jinapor, has yet again assured that the Damongo Water project will be delivered.

Mr. Jinapor, who is also the minister for Lands and Natural Resources, at his acclamation as the parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party for the constituency in the 2024 elections on Saturday February 17, said work will soon commence.

Mr. Jinapor has come under pressure from critics for the failure of the government in which he serves as a cabinet minister to deliver the water project, which was a major campaign issue during the 2020 elections, which he won.

The President cut sod for the project in 2020 with the promise of delivering pipe borne water for the Savannah regional capital before that year's elections.

But five years on and after many other promises and dates of delivery by government appointees, including the MP and the vice president, Mr. Jinapor has resorted to supplying water to some residents with tankers for which he has faced intense criticisms.

But speaking at the Damongo Community Centre, where he was acclaimed as the NPP parliamentary candidate, Samuel Abdulai Jinapor said a cheque has been issued to the contractor to commence work on the water project.

Mr. Jinapor, however, failed to state when the contractor is expected to start work and whether the water will be delivered before the upcoming December polls.
