The Headteacher, staff, and pupils of Sawla D/A JHS were overwhelmed with joy when they received a set of jerseys from one of the greatest alumni of the school Abdulai Iddrisu popularly known as "Dasylva".
The donation was timely as the school authorities realized the need to give the Sports department a face-lift to strengthen their image as one of the best schools, not only in academic but Sports in the district.
It must be emphasised that Abdulai Iddrisu was one of the greatest athletes nurtured by the school as he distinguished himself in both sports and academic, he was the sports prefect of the 2009/2010 year group of the school and has represented the District and then Northern region in basic school competitions as a goalkeeper.
His talent as a goalkeeper did not go unnoticed as he distinguished himself in the senior high and university games, making him sign his first professional contract for Bechem United FC in the Ghana Premier League
He also featured for the Black galaxies of Ghana and currently with Azam FC in Tanzania.
The donation was made on Abdulai's behalf by his juvenile manager, coach, and sportsmaster during his schooling days at the JHS, Mr. Alhassan Abdulraman Nyariba, who doubles as the current assistant headmaster of the school and the District Football Association Chairman.
In a speech delivered on his behalf, Mr Abdul Rahman told the students that discipline, hard work, and perseverance in both academics and sports is what defines Abdulai Iddrisu, and he's gradually paying back to his alma mata and this should motivate them to strive harder and achieve more glories so they can also come back to motivate their young ones in future.
The Headmaster of the school, Mr. Yakubu Abubakari Kamara expressed his gratitude to Mr. Abdulai Iddrisu for his generosity and support and says the donation will benefit the school's football team and inspire the students to work hard and achieve their goals."
