Bole: Residents hit streets with "StopBoleKillingsNow" Demo.

Residents of Bole in the Savannah region on Saturday June 8, 2024  took to the  streets to protest what they described as rising insecurity in the town. 


The protest, led by a group known as the Concern citizens of Bole was to register their displeasure over the unexplained killings of some 20 people over the last three years in the town.


The move follows recent news of the killing of some three people in Bole in a space of one month. 

The group organized an emergency meeting on Monday June 3, 2024 where the youth resolved to express their dissatisfaction on the indiscriminate serial killings and attacks of the people of Bole.

 

Saturday's protested carried placards with  inscriptions, "we are no longer safe in our own community," "Save Us now," "Bole Women and Children are crying," "stop the Killing now," I"must act fast."


The recent killings in town have heightened fear in the people of Bole, " We are afraid to go out at night for fear of being killed" a protestor told kashafmonline.com.


"The once peaceful and loving community is now a place where people far and near dread to visit or live" another Resident added.


The Petition  of the protestors  which was delivered to the Bole Divisional Police Commander and other stakeholders highlighted the following:


1.To draw your attention to the serial killings in the Bole District and to demand swift action from your outfit to restore peace, order, and hope in our community.


2.To demand a comprehensive account from your men on the 20 murder cases in the Bole District. Thus the  progress made so far and the assurance that perpetrators will be brought to justice. 


3.To request for a security beef up in the Bole District in terms of personnel and logistics to ensure effective policing in our town which has sadly become a den of serial killers.

4.To demand that the people of Bole be carried along the investigation process where constant updates and statements will be issued as it is done in similar cases. 


5.To demand that justice should be served without fear or favor. Anyone allegedly involved in these heinous crimes, regardless of status or class should not be left off the hook in the dispensation of justice.


Meanwhile the Ghana Police Service in a statement on Friday 7th June announced personnel have been deployed to Bole to assist unravel the deaths.
