On August 7, 2024, the "Planting for Food and Jobs Phase Two" initiative, known as the Grand Component, provided free fertilizers to 1,093 farmers in Damongo.

The initiative is designed to assist over 2,000 early-registered farmers across Ghana by supplying essential agricultural inputs to boost productivity.

Each farmer received fertilizers sufficient for one hectare of land, including two bags of MPK, two bags of UREA, and hybrid seeds.

The distribution was overseen by Alhaji Mumuni Ibrahim, West Gonja Municipal Director of Agriculture, who discussed the program's benefits in an interview with Kasha FM.

"The Grand Component under Planting for Food and Jobs Phase Two supports farmers who registered with agricultural extension officers. Their farms were documented, and their details were sent to Accra, resulting in the selection of 2,000 farmers nationwide, including 1,093 from Damongo," Alhaji Ibrahim explained.

He emphasized that the registration and distribution process is non-political and encouraged farmers to use the fertilizers effectively to enhance their yields.

Karim Musah Kusubari, the Municipal Chief Executive of West Gonja Municipality, addressed the beneficiaries, urging them to always take such agricultural registrations seriously.

He expressed gratitude to the Regional Agricultural Director for his efforts in enrolling a significant number of farmers in the program.

Dagaadu, a prominent farmer in Damongo and a beneficiary, conveyed his appreciation, noting that the provided farm inputs would significantly improve his agricultural activities.
