Hon. Adam Mutawakilu, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Damongo constituency, has promised infrastructural improvements for the Damongo Nursing Training College (DNTC) as part of his campaign promises.

Speaking during the NDC DNTC leadership handover ceremony on Monday, October 21, 2024, Mutawakilu emphasized the NDC's past achievements at the institution and outlined his plans for further development.

He commended the construction of the school’s conference hall, built under the tenure of former MP Hon. Sammy B. Wusah, and noted his own contributions to the college, including the construction of classrooms, two teacher quarters, and the Lady’s Hostel.

He criticized his opponent, Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor, for prioritizing projects outside the constituency. He specifically called out Jinapor for giving cars to individuals while overlooking urgent needs at DNTC, like providing the college with a new vehicle.

Outlining his vision for the school, Mutawakilu promised the construction of a new conference and dining hall, the provision of a new bus, and the payment of the institution's electricity bills.

He encouraged students to accept any financial gifts from opponents, but to vote based on the needs of the community.

Mutawakilu further accused Abu Jinapor of underutilizing the resources available to him as MP. “He receives 100,000 Ghana Cedis every three months from the Common Fund, yet has little to show for it,” he claimed.

In contrast, Mutawakilu said, “I received only 20,000 Ghana Cedis during my tenure, but I accomplished far more.”

The pledge comes as part of the NDC's broader campaign to win back the Damongo parliamentary seat in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
