WPVC Savannah Region Trained on Poultry Welfare and Productivity

Women in Poultry Value Chain (WPVC), Savannah Region branch, have benefited from a one-day training on poultry welfare, productivity, and biosecurity.

The training session took place on February 16, 2025, at Ndewura Jakpa Technical Senior High School.

The training aimed to equip women with the knowledge to enhance poultry productivity through improved welfare and security measures.

Dr. Joseph Ansong-Danquah, a volunteer with Veterinarians Without Borders, Canada, led the training.

He stressed the importance of prioritizing poultry welfare, stating that "animal health is as important as human health."

He outlined key measures for ensuring poultry welfare, including providing nutritious feed and clean drinking water, maintaining well-ventilated housing, controlling diseases, and ensuring veterinary care for sick birds.

He further emphasized that poultry welfare and productivity are closely linked, as healthy birds lead to increased yields.

Madam Comfort Afelik Asitik, Vice President of Women in Poultry Value Chain-Apex Ghana, commended the women for their dedication and urged them to prioritize the health and safety of their birds to enhance productivity.
