The Omanhene and President of the Abease Traditional Council, Obrenpong Kru-Takyi II, who also serves as the Vice President of the Bono East Region House of Chiefs, has made a passionate call for accelerated development in the Abease Traditional Area, declaring that the traditional area is “hungry for development”.
Speaking during a courtesy call paid by the Member of Parliament for Pru West Constituency, Hon. Emmanuel Kofi Ntekuni, the Omanhene expressed concern over the lack of critical infrastructure and social amenities in the area.
He referenced promises made by H.E. John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, during the 2024 general election campaign and his visit during the Kwabena festival, including the creation of a District Assembly for Abease, the construction of a modern market, and the transformation of the Abeaseman Day School into a fully equipped boarding facility.
“We thank God and our ancestors that His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama won massively. We hope he will fulfill the promises made to the chiefs and people of Abease. We are ready to partner with government to ensure the development of this traditional area,” Obrenpong Kru-Takyi II stated.
He assured the MP of his commitment to work closely with him and the incoming District Chief Executive to facilitate progress. “My doors are always open. You can call on me at any time for advice and direction,” the Omanhene emphasized.
Obrenpong Kru-Takyi II also highlighted the availability of vast arable lands within the traditional area and encouraged the MP to attract investors to boost agriculture and reduce youth unemployment.
He lauded the government for continuing work on the Abease road project, which was initiated by the previous administration, and urged the MP to regularly remind the President of his pledges to the community.
In response, Hon. Emmanuel Kofi Ntekuni expressed his gratitude to the chiefs and people of Abease for their unwavering support during the 2024 elections. “I am here to say thank you and to reaffirm my commitment to delivering on the promises I made to you,” he said.
The MP also used the occasion to seek the blessings of the traditional leadership and formally introduced Hon. Samuel Agyapong, the President’s nominee for the position of District Chief Executive for Pru West.
He noted that the confirmation of the nominee is scheduled for Tuesday 15th April 2025, and appealed for prayers and support from the traditional authorities to ensure a smooth confirmation process.
“We are committed to ensuring Abease receives its fair share of the national cake under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama,” Hon. Ntekuni assured.
To conclude the visit, the Omanhene directed the Gyaasehene to offer prayers for the MP, the DCE nominee, and the current government, asking for divine guidance and success in all their endeavours.
