Ethio Electric Goalkeeper Iddrisu Abdulai organized Charity Event in Savannah Region to Supports Orphans

 


In a remarkable gesture of giving back to his roots, Ethio Electric goalkeeper Iddrisu Abdulai has organized a charity football event in the Savannah Region to honor football legends and support the Nakwabi Children’s Home.


The two-day event drew hundreds of football enthusiasts from across Gonjaland, who gathered at Kurabaso Park in Bole to witness thrilling matches between the Bole and Sawla teams. 


The curtain raiser ended in a 1-1 draw between the Bole and Sawla under(10) select sides, while the highlight of the event saw the Bole Legends edge out the Sawla Legends with a narrow 1-0 victory.


Speaking to the fans after the matches, Iddrisu Abdulai expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the massive turnout and the support shown. 


He paid tribute to the football legends present, acknowledging their role in shaping his own career and inspiring a new generation.


“I am grateful to everyone who came out to support this initiative. Some of these legends here today helped shape my career in different ways, and I will always be thankful,” Iddrisu said. 


He encouraged the youth to stay disciplined and work hard, reminding them that dedication and good character are key to making themselves and their communities proud.


Certificates and Citations were given to deserving individuals, key among them is the 1971 black Maeteous player, Ndapewura Bukari, alias "Morocco wizard"



As part of the charity drive, Iddrisu Abdulai made significant donations to the Nakwabi Children’s Home, presenting bags of rice, maize, water, boxes of T-roll, and cash to help support the orphans and the caregivers.


The event attracted notable football professionals and stakeholders including former Asante Kotoko captain Ismaila Abdul Ganiw, Hafiz Konkoni of Ethiopian Coffee, Zakaria Issahaku of Mogadishu City, Legon Cities’ assistant coach Coach Ablordey, Techiman Eleven Wonders CEO Stephen Puro Jr., Sanarigu FA Chairman Coach Dauda, STK FA Chairman Alhassan Rahman, and Bole FA Chairman Ewuntomah Joachim.


The charity matches were held at Kurabaso Park in Bole on Saturday, 5th July 2025, and have been widely praised as a great example of how sports can unite communities and uplift themselves.
