Damongo SHS to Compete in the Grand Finale of the National Renewable Energy Challenge

 



The Savannah Region will be proudly represented at this year’s Senior High Schools Renewable Energy Challenge as Damongo Senior High School takes centre stage on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre, 10:00 a.m.


The school’s project, titled “Transforming Food Waste into Sustainable Biodegradable Solutions,” is a bold innovation designed to tackle environmental pollution while paving the way for a healthier and more sustainable future. The initiative reflects Damongo SHS’s growing reputation as a hub of creativity, resilience, and excellence in science and technology.


Speaking ahead of the competition, team member Mahamud Ibrahim expressed the team’s determination, saying: “We are going for the ultimate. Our project is not only innovative but also a practical solution to environmental issues in Ghana and beyond.”


Damongo SHS will battle against some of the nation’s finest institutions, including Dabokpa Technical Institute, Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School, Ahantaman Girls’ Senior High School, Ola Girls’ Senior High School, and Adidome Senior High School.


The Renewable Energy Challenge, organized by the Energy Commission, is aimed at encouraging creativity, innovation, and practical solutions among senior high school students in renewable energy and energy efficiency.


For Damongo SHS, this competition is more than just a contest. It is an opportunity to inspire a generation, build a greener and healthier future, and proudly fly the flag of the Savannah Region high.
