Kudus Gbeadese, Executive Secretary to the Managing Director of Ghana Water Limited (GWL), Hon. Adam Mutawakilu, has stated that the current administration has paid more money to the contractor working on the Broto Water Project than the New Patriotic Party (NPP) did throughout its entire tenure.
Speaking on Ashumaa Savannah on Kasha 99.5 FM in Damongo on Monday, 24th November, Gbeadese said the previous government’s “stop-gap” water project under former GWL MD, Ing. Dr. Clifford, received far less financial commitment compared to what the current Ghana Water Limited management has released to ensure completion.
He noted that the MD, Adam Mutawakilu, has cleared the contractor to resume full work on the Broto water system but stressed that the intervention will not prevent Damongo and surrounding communities from receiving water from the main Yapei source promised by the NDC government.
Gbeadese assured residents that the Damongo Water Project will commence and be completed within the four-year mandate of the NDC administration, describing the Damongo–Tamale–Yendi water system as a priority for President John Mahama.
He further revealed that while awaiting parliamentary approval of the national budget, technical teams and senior officials, including the GWL Managing Director, have already conducted inspections to fast-track the rollout of the major water project.
