WGM: MCE Hands Over Site for Six-Unit Classroom Block at Agric Settlement

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for West Gonja, Hon. Yakubu Yussif Castro, has officially handed over a site for the construction of a six-unit classroom block for the Agric Settlement community in the Canteen Electoral Area of Damongo in the Savannah Region.

Speaking during the handing-over and sod-cutting ceremony, Hon. Castro revealed that for the past 48 years since the establishment of the school, pupils have been learning under difficult conditions.

According to him, the school has operated from a converted bungalow partitioned into makeshift classrooms, while kindergarten children study under trees.

He described the new project as a long-awaited intervention aimed at providing the school with a dignified and conducive teaching and learning environment.

A total of 11 acres of land has been secured for the project, which is being undertaken by Kamara International Construction Limited. The contractor is expected to complete the work within six months and has assured the MCE and the community of early completion.

Hon. Castro appealed to the contractor to consider employing residents of the community during the construction period.

He further urged community members to take an active interest in supervising the project to ensure quality work is delivered.
