Bole MP Supports Over 400 Widows, PWDs with New Year Donation

The Member of Parliament for the Bole–Bamboi Constituency and Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources Hon. Yusif Sulemana has marked the first day of 2026 with a humanitarian gesture, donating food items and cloths to over 400 widows and persons living with disabilities (PWDs) in the constituency.

The beneficiaries each received three pieces of cloth and a 5kg bag of rice to help them celebrate the New Year.

In addition, they are to benefit from free National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) card renewal to enable them access medical services without financial burden.

The MP also announced plans to organize free health screening exercises for them in the coming days.

Addressing the gathering, the Bole lawmaker explained that the initiative is aimed at building a lasting relationship with widows and persons living with disabilities in the constituency, while offering practical support to improve their welfare.

He shared personal reflections on the hardships widows face, noting that he understands their struggles firsthand as a child of a widow.

He assured the beneficiaries that the intervention would be expanded in subsequent years across other communities in the constituency and, eventually, the Savannah Region.

He further appealed to benevolent individuals, civil society organizations, and government appointees to support similar initiatives, stressing that widows lose their spouses through no fault of their own and deserve sustained care.

The MP also revealed plans to organize the widows into an association to make it easier to reach them with support whenever the need arises. He used the occasion to wish the beneficiaries and the entire Bole–Bamboi Constituency a prosperous New Year.

Earlier on the same day, the MP met with clergy and some youth leaders in the constituency to discuss development issues and ways to advance growth and unity in the area.
