Bikunu Rising Stars, a division three club in the West Gonja Municipality of the Savannah region, on Sunday, 1st February 2026, travelled to Canteen for a Division Three (3) league match against Canteen FC, a game they narrowly lost 1–0.
After the match, while the team was returning to town, they were sadly involved in a road accident near the Damongo Prison Camp Junction at Canteen. Seven (7) players sustained various degree of injuries.
The injured players were rushed to a nearby health facility for immediate medical attention. Four (4) of the players were treated and discharged while the remaining three (3) players are still under observation.
Further updates will be communicated as more information becomes available. The thoughts and prayers of the football community are with Bikunu Rising Stars and the injured players and their families during this difficult time.
