Old Student Commissions New Bath House for Jakpa House at Damongo SHS

An old student of Damongo Senior High School, Issifu Seidu Kudus Gbeadese, has commissioned a newly constructed bath house for Jakpa House, marking a significant boost to student welfare at the school.

Mr. Gbeadese, who is the Executive Secretary to the Managing Director of Ghana Water Limited, took the initiative after visiting the school and being disturbed by the deplorable state of the existing bath house.

He said the condition of the facility posed serious health and safety risks to students.

Recounting his own days as a student, Mr. Gbeadese recalled how the poor state of the bath house once forced him to bathe elsewhere after encountering a toad in the facility, eventually compelling him to move out of the residential hall.

Motivated by these memories and the current reality, he demolished the old structure and financed the construction of a new bath house using his personal salary.

Addressing students of Jakpa House during the commissioning ceremony, Mr. Gbeadese pledged to renovate the entire hall by the end of 2026, committing half of his monthly salary to the project.

He called on other old students, especially those in positions of influence, to support the development of their alma mater, stressing that quality infrastructure is key to academic success.

In addition to the bath house, Mr. Gbeadese donated two customized sets of jerseys to the hall, encouraging students to see such acts of generosity as motivation to strive for excellence.

Speaking on behalf of the students, Ewuntomah Geadese Kenneth expressed gratitude to the benefactor, noting that the new facility has brought relief to students who previously had to bathe in open spaces due to the poor condition of the old bath house.

The Headmistress of Damongo Senior High School, Madam Habiba, thanked Mr. Gbeadese for his support and appealed to other old students to assist in renovating the Girls’ Dormitory, which is also in a deteriorated state.

Damongo Senior High School, one of the largest schools in the region, has produced many notable prominent figures, yet continues to face major infrastructure challenges.

The gesture by Mr. Gbeadese is expected to inspire more old students to contribute to the school’s development.
