Two people have been shot dead while two others are in critical condition following a suspected armed robbery attack at Damongo Junction on the evening of March 8, 2026.
The incident occurred between 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm shortly after Maghrib prayers when a group of armed men reportedly attacked the area and fired several gunshots.
One of the deceased has been identified as Majeed, a mobile money vendor and a former student of Ndewura Japka Technical Senior High School.
The second victim, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, is believed to be a native of Larbanga who had travelled from Kumasi to visit a sick relative.
Two other victims sustained gunshot wounds and are currently in critical condition receiving treatment at a hospital in Buipe, with possible transfer to Kumasi for further medical care.
Eyewitnesses say the attackers, believed to be about six in number, were heavily armed and fired several shots during the incident. Authorities are yet to issue an official statement.
