The Managing Director of Ghana Water Limited (GWL), Hon. Adam Mutawakilu, has fulfilled his commitment to the people of Busunu by restoring the community’s ambulance to full operational status, strengthening emergency healthcare delivery in the West Gonja Municipality.
The fully repaired ambulance was officially handed over to the Busunu community on behalf of the Managing Director by the Executive Secretary to the MD of Ghana Water Limited and Board Member of the Ghana Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA), Lawyer Issifu Kudus Gbeadese.
The ambulance was originally donated to the community several years ago by Hon. Adam Mutawakilu during his tenure as Member of Parliament for the Damongo Constituency. However, the vehicle became non-operational after years of inadequate maintenance.
The decision to repair the ambulance followed an appeal by the Busunuwura during a courtesy call by Hon. Mutawakilu as part of Phase I stakeholder engagements for the Damongo and Tamale Water Supply Projects.
Responding to the chief’s request, the GWL Managing Director pledged to restore the ambulance to working condition a promise he has now honoured.
Presenting the ambulance, Lawyer Issifu Kudus Gbeadese encouraged the people of Busunu to regard the vehicle as a shared community asset and ensure its proper maintenance to guarantee its long-term usefulness.
He also conveyed a message from the Managing Director, cautioning against any acts of vandalism or negligence that could render the ambulance unserviceable again.
He specifically referenced the unfortunate incident in which salt was allegedly poured into the vehicle’s engine, stressing that such actions undermine a critical resource intended to save lives.
“The ambulance belongs to the people of Busunu and is meant to provide timely emergency healthcare services to everyone in the community. It is therefore important that it is protected and properly maintained,” he said.
Receiving the ambulance, the Busunuwura expressed heartfelt appreciation to Hon. Adam Mutawakilu for honouring his commitment to the community.
He praised the Managing Director for his continued dedication to the welfare of the people and offered prayers for God’s guidance, strength, and success in his leadership.
The restoration of the ambulance is expected to significantly enhance emergency medical response in Busunu and neighbouring communities by improving access to reliable transportation for patients in need of urgent medical care.
