The Bikunuto Educational Fund has fully settled US$20,000 in outstanding tuition fees for Kassim Bakari, a young Gonja student pursuing Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) training at Paramount Aviation School in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The intervention is part of the Fund’s commitment to supporting the education and professional development of promising young people from Gonjaland.
Bakari Kasim, who was at the final stage of his pilot training, had reportedly been withdrawn from the programme due to outstanding tuition fees. The Bikunuto Educational Fund now cleared the debt, allowing him to resume his training and work towards completing the programme.
Upon successful completion of his training, Kasim is expected to become the first commercial pilot from Gonjaland, marking a significant milestone for the Gonja community and highlighting the potential of targeted investment in education and professional development.
The Bikunuto Educational Fund said the intervention demonstrates its commitment to investing in young people and helping to build the next generation of professionals from Gonjaland.
The Educational Fund has subsequently appealed to individuals, organisations, institutions and development partners to support its work to enable it to expand its reach and provide similar opportunities to more brilliant but financially disadvantaged young people across Gonjaland.
The Educational Fund believes that sustained investment in education and skills development can help unlock the potential of young people and contribute to the long-term social and economic development of Gonjaland.
