The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has donated assorted items and GH¢5,000 in cash to support the 2026 Yagbon Damba Festival at the Jakpa Palace in Damongo.
The donation includes bottled water, drinks and biscuits, together with a cash contribution of GH¢5,000 towards the successful organization of this year’s festival.
The items were presented by the Savannah Regional Director of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Alhaji Sulemana Ahmed, to the King and Overlord of the Gonja Kingdom, Yagbonwura Jira Bii Kunuto Jewu Soale I, on the directives of the Authority’s National Boss, Mrs Maame Afua Wajeto
Speaking during the presentation, Alhaji Sulemana Ahmed said the Authority received an invitation from the Jakpa Palace to be part of this year’s Damba celebrations and responded with urgency, given the importance of the invitation.
He said the Ghana Tourism Authority is excited to be part of the 2026 Yagbon Damba Festival and will continue to support cultural and tourism-related activities across the Savannah Region.
According to him, the Authority has a responsibility to contribute to activities that promote the region’s rich cultural heritage and tourism potential.
«“We are in the region, and we must fulfil our corporate social responsibility. We will always be ready to support any activity in the region,” he said.»
Yagbonwura Jira Bii Kunuto Jewu Soale I personally received the donated items and cash contribution on behalf of the Jakpa Palace. The Overlord expressed his appreciation to the Ghana Tourism Authority for the gesture and for recognizing the importance of the Yagbon Damba Festival.
The palace thanked the Authority and its leadership for the support and prayed for continued success, progress and prosperity for the Ghana Tourism Authority.
The donation further strengthens the collaboration between the Ghana Tourism Authority and traditional authorities in promoting culture, tourism and heritage in the Savannah Region.
