Hon. Garlus Donates 15 Industrial Sewing Machines to Lordina Ladies in Damongo

Managing Director of Ghana Water Limited and former Member of Parliament for Damongo Constituency, Hon. Adam Mutawakilu, has donated 15 industrial sewing machines to members of the Lordina Ladies in the constituency as part of efforts to support their livelihoods.

The donation, made on Saturday, August 29, 2026, fulfils part of a commitment made by the Ghana Water Limited MD to supporters and party members who, according to him, remained loyal and worked tirelessly for the party during challenging periods.

The Lordina Ladies are a women’s group in the Damongo Constituency known for their active involvement in political and community activities.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Hon. Mutawakilu recalled his longstanding relationship with the group, dating back to 2010, and expressed appreciation for their unwavering support over the years.

“Everyone knows how the Lordina Ladies and I started. It has been 16 years since 2010, and they have been there for the party, myself and His Excellency John Dramani Mahama,”

He noted that the group had stood by him and the party through both difficult and favourable periods, despite challenges and pressures from opposing political groups.

“There are times we enjoy together and there are times we suffer together, but they stood with me through challenges from opposing sides, though some changed their minds,” he added.

According to the Managing Director, the donation was intended to provide the women with practical means of earning a living and improving their economic independence.

“I have thought it wise to also help them. That is why I bought these industrial sewing machines to support them,” Hon. Mutawakilu explained.

He further disclosed that plans were underway to extend similar support to hairdressers within the group, assuring them that the necessary equipment would be provided as soon as possible.

Hon. Mutawakilu also pledged to continue contributing his quota to the development of the Damongo Constituency in appreciation of the support he has received from the women and other party supporters over the years.

The beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the gesture, which they said would create opportunities for skills development, income generation and improved livelihoods among members.
