The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the West Gonja Municipal Assembly, accompanied by key government officials and constituency executives, paid a courtesy call on Busunuwura Monasa Jonokpawu I at his Palace to introduce the contractor for the Farmers Service Centre (FSC) project and secure land for its construction.
The purpose of the visit was to formally introduce Imperial Construction Company Ltd, the contractor awarded the Farmers Service Centre (FSC) project, to the traditional authorities and the people of Busunu.
The delegation also sought the allocation of a 21-acre parcel of land for the construction of the project.
Addressing the gathering, the MCE highlighted the transformative impact the Farmers Service Centre is expected to have on agriculture and livelihoods in Busunu and the entire constituency.
He explained that the centre will serve as a modern agricultural hub designed to improve food production, storage, farmer training, and mechanization.
According to the MCE, the project will have a modern warehouse for the storage of agricultural produce, a conference and training centre where farmers will receive education on modern farming practices, a garage to accommodate agricultural machinery, and a warehouse dedicated to the storage of equipment spare parts.
Busunuwura Monasa Jonokpawu I welcomed the delegation and expressed his appreciation for the government’s decision to site the project in Busunu. In a demonstration of his commitment to the area’s development, the traditional ruler agreed to release the requested 21-acre parcel of land for the construction of the project.
The Chief of Bonyanto, Bonyantowura Kwaja Kwachi, under whose jurisdiction the land falls, urged Imperial Construction Company to deliver quality work that would stand the test of time.
He also appealed to the contractor to prioritize the employment of local artisans and unskilled youth throughout the construction phase to create economic opportunities for the surrounding communities.
Following the meeting at the palace, the MCE, traditional authorities, and members of the delegation proceeded to the project site, where the 21-acre parcel of land was officially handed over to Imperial Construction Company Ltd, paving the way for construction to commence.
The Farmers Service Centre is expected to become a major catalyst for agricultural transformation in the West Gonja Municipality by improving post-harvest management, strengthening farmers’ capacity through training, and enhancing access to modern agricultural equipment and services.
