The Bii-Kunuto Educational Fund has for the third time disbursed financial support to brilliant but needy students across Gonjaland, extending its commitment to expanding access to education and supporting young people in achieving their academic aspirations.
The latest disbursement is supporting 105 brilliant but needy students, including PhD students, as part of efforts to reduce financial barriers that could hinder talented young people from pursuing higher education.
Speaking at the disbursement ceremony, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Bii-Kunuto Educational Fund, Mr. Malik Mankir, said the Fund was established in 2024, with its maiden disbursement supporting more than 60 students.
According to him, the Fund has since expanded its reach and continues to identify and support deserving students across Gonjaland.
Mr. Mankir highlighted several interventions undertaken by the Fund since its establishment. These include supporting brilliant students from Gonjaland to pursue medical education in China, with the broader objective of equipping them with professional skills to contribute to the development of their homeland.
The Fund has also constructed a new Guidance and Counseling Unit for Damongo Senior High School, providing an important facility to support students' academic, personal and career development.
In addition, the Fund has extended support to the first pilot student from Gonjaland studying in South Africa, further demonstrating its commitment to creating opportunities for young people to pursue education beyond Ghana.
Yagbonwura Urges Beneficiaries to Give Back
The Overlord of Gonja, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, urged beneficiaries to take their education seriously and remain committed to their academic pursuits.
He encouraged the students to remember the support they received when they eventually complete their studies and become successful, urging them to extend similar assistance to other young people in Gonjaland.
The Overlord emphasized the importance of building a culture of support and collective development, where beneficiaries of today become benefactors of tomorrow.
The beneficiaries expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the Overlord for his continued commitment to the educational advancement and wellbeing of young people across Gonjaland.
They commended the Bii-Kunuto Educational Fund for providing critical financial support at a time when educational expenses continue to pose significant challenges to many students and families.
The third disbursement further reinforces the Fund's growing role in supporting education and developing human capital across Gonjaland, with beneficiaries expected to translate the opportunities provided into meaningful contributions to their communities and the wider development of Gonjaland.
