The 2026 Savannah Regional Tourism Awards have recognised individuals, businesses, institutions and organisations contributing to the growth, promotion and development of tourism in the Savannah Region.
The prestigious awards ceremony was held on Friday, September 11, 2026, at Wuripe and Sons Royal Lodge in Bole, under the theme “Celebrating Excellence Beyond Borders – The Blackstar Experience.”
The event brought together key stakeholders from the tourism industry, traditional authorities, local government, the media and other sectors, in celebration of excellence and innovation within the region's tourism landscape.
Among the dignitaries in attendance were Representative of the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Mr. Kofi Atta Kakra Kusi; the Savannah Regional Minister, Hon. Salisu Be-Awuribe (Esq) , who served as Guest of Honour; Hon. Abdulai Mahamud, DCE for Bole District; Hon. Kassim Rabiu, MCE for East Gonja; and Hon. Yakubu Yussif Castro, MCE for West Gonja Municipal.
Other dignitaries included Mr. Alhassan Baba Darison, President of the Gonjaland Youth Association (GLYA), and Kanyepewura Solomon Salifu Tampuri (Esq), and Bugewura M.M., who represented the Bolewura in the Bole Traditional Area.
A host of other stakeholders in the tourism sector also attended the ceremony.
The programme was chaired by Prof. Raymond Adongo, Head of the Department of Ecotourism and Hospitality Management at the University for Development Studies (UDS), Tamale.
The awards covered a broad range of categories, including accommodation, catering, travel trade, media, tourism promotion and honorary recognitions.
