Alhaji Asei will lead my campaign - Tika

The newly elected New Patriotic Party, NPP parliamentary candidate for the Daboya-Mankarigu constituency in the Savannah region, Samuel Yeyu Tika has said his contender in the primaries, Alhaji Mahama Asei Seini will lead his campaign for the December polls.

Mr. Tika defeated Alhaji Asei, who is the incumbent member of Parliament for the area, by a 15 vote margin in yesterday's closely contested election at Daboya.

Alhaji Asei, who is a deputy minister of health, pulled 196 votes as against Tika's 211 votes to end  his representation of the constituency in Parliament at one term.

Addressing journalists after the declaration of results, Mr. Tika, who is a deputy CEO of the Minerals Commission responsible for Small Scale and Industrial Minerals said Alhaji Asei, will lead his campaign ahead of the December polls.

"I think that it is Alhaji Asei who will lead the campaign and he accepted when he called to congratulate me and when that happen(s) all those who are behind will follow suit."

"Don't forget that in 2012 and 2016, those who contested divided themselves into two, and myself and Alhaji were together, so I know what steps to take to bring all of them on board."

Mr. Tika also assured that he would take steps to ensure the government addresses some of the developmental challenges of the constituency before the December elections.
