On Sunday, 26th May,2024, Some youth of Daboya in the North Gonja District of the Savannah Region resorted to Communal Labor to rehabilitate portions of the Daboya to Busunu road as well as those leading to other major towns in the area.
The Daboya-Busunu road which was 60% completed with butemen surfacing done to Langanteri before 2016 is now in a terrible state as a result neglect and lack of maintenance.
The 52 kilometer abandoned road which commuters in 2016 used about 45 minutes to travel, now takes almost 2 hours due to its deplorable nature.
This has increased the cost of maintenance of vehicles ploughing the route and as a result, many commercial vehicle owners have withdrawn their services from the road.
Speaking to kashafmonline.com during the communal exercise, Mr. Musah Farouk, a resident of Daboya, said they thought it imperative to mobilize themselves to work on the deplorable parts of the road, because they are touched by the hurdles users of the road have through when accessing it.
He, commended the Fomer Member of Parliament for the area, Shaibu Mahama Obei for offering them tipper trucks and undisclosed amount of money to support the communal efforts at making the road motorable.
Participants called on Stakeholders to as a mater of urgency, ensure a contractor is brought to fix the road.
