Former President John Dramani Mahama is rehabilitating a broken dam at Pina in the upper west region to boost irrigation and the local economy of the area.
On Sunday, June 2, 2024, Former President John Dramani Mahama visited the project site in the Lambussie district in the Upper West Region to inspect the progress made.
The project is being funded by Mr. Mahama despite being in opposition, a sign of his commitment to the welfare of the people of the Upper West Region and Ghana as a whole.
During his "Building the Ghana We Want" tour in the region, the Paramount Chief of the area, a retired Agriculturist, appealed to Mr. Mahama for assistance in rehabilitating their collapsed dam at Pina, which served as a primary source of livelihood.
Mr. Mahama obliged an assigned a former minister for agriculture, Alhaji Limuna Mohammed-Muniru the responsibility of mobilizing and overseeing the dam's rehabilitation.
The dam covers an area of 200 acres of land and has the capacity to hold 422 million gallons of water for both domestic and agricultural purposes.
