The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Damongo constituency has adopted a group called ESCORT 24 to provide internal security as the party gears up for the 2024 general elections.

ESCORT 24, comprising energetic youth from within the party, has been formed to protect high-profile members and the broader constituency.

The formation of ESCORT 24 stems from alleged continuous attacks on NDC members by intimidating, heavily built tags associated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP). These attacks have reportedly deterred many NDC supporters from participating in party activities.

In response, the youth in the party have taken the initiative to form ESCORT 24 to ensure safety and security.

In a closed-door meeting, the group presented themselves to party executives, highlighting their role in safeguarding the party during the election season.

Their primary focus includes providing security in voting areas and for notable NDC personalities vulnerable to attacks.

Mr Abu Salagne, a member of the NDC executive committee, praised the youth for their initiative, urging them to avoid Misinformation spreading, which could undermine their efforts.

He pledged the party's support and encouraged group members to stay committed to their mission, assuring them of opportunities once the party assumes power in 2024.

Mr Alhansah Braimah, the NDC Constituency Secretary for the Savannah Region, expressed admiration for the group's operations.

He announced that the party would provide a Mahindra pick-up for the group’s use and promised to add any additional vehicle received from the national office to them.
