Battle for Damongo: Madam Latifa Fires Back at Jinapor Over Development Records

The political heat in the Damongo Constituency is intensifying as Madam Latifa Seidu, a Gender activist subtly challenges the performance of incumbent MP, Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor.

Speaking on Kasha Radio’s political program The Front-Burner, on Saturday, November 16, 2024, Madam Latifa questioned Hon. Abu Jinapor’s developmental track record, accusing him of failing to deliver meaningful progress for the constituency.

In a dramatic rebuttal to Jinapor’s recent comments urging voters to reject his opponent, Hon. Adam Mutawakilu, as a “tired man,” Madam Latifa argued that it is Jinapor who should be dropped.

“How do you drop someone you didn’t vote for? Abu Jinapor, who has been given the chance as a young and vibrant politician, has failed. Now he wants to kick out an experienced leader like Mutawakilu? Where’s the logic?” she asked.

Latifa praised Mutawakilu, the NDC candidate, for spearheading developmental projects even in opposition, claiming he stands tall as a true servant of the people.

“Politics isn’t about age. If it were, Abu Jinapor’s godfather, President Nana Akufo-Addo, wouldn’t be president today. It’s about results, and Mutawakilu delivers,” she said emphatically.

Meanwhile, Jinapor remains steadfast, branding Mutawakilu as outdated and urging the NDC to present younger candidates for future elections. “The tired era of Mutawakilu is over,” he told constituents during an event at the Damongo Nursing Training College.

As the 2024 elections draw closer, the contest in Damongo intensifies, with accusations of arrogance and unmet promises dominating the campaign trail.

Will they retain the young incumbent or return to the "experienced hand"? The question remains unanswered until December 7.
