Why didn't a Muslim candidate adopt Muslim council proposals? - Bole MP quizzes NAPO

The Member of Parliament for Bole-Bamboi, Alhaji Yusif Sulemana, wants to know why the New Patriotic Party virtually rejected all the proposals made to the Party through its leader, Alhaji Mahaud Bawumia.

Alhaji Yusif who directed the question to the NPP running mate, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh said while the NDC adopted 12 out of the 14 proposals by the Muslim council into its manifesto, the NPP adopted only 2.

Alhaji Yusif wonders why the NPP, led by a Muslim adopted just two of the proposals whiles the NDC, led by a Christian adopted twelve.

The MP who is also the chairman of the NDC Youth Wing in the Savannah Region was reacting to the NPP running mate's comments that it was sinful for Muslims to vote for the NDC candidate.

He was addressing NDC supporters at a campaign launch in Salaga.

"The NPP running mate says it is Haram for a Muslim to vote for the NDC who's candidate is a Christian, what has their leader who is a Muslim done for us?" He quizzed.

"The Muslim Council met Bawumia and John Mahama and presented 14 proposals to add to their manifestos, Bawumia added only 2 and Mahama added 12, who loves Muslims more?"

He also reminded the Muslim community of how costly going to Mecca to perform Hajj has become very expensive under the NPP.

"During John Mahama's time, you needed only GHC12,000 to perform Hajj, today under the so called Muslim vice president and leader you need GHC75,000 to perform the same Hajj, so let's be careful,"

He therefore called on the Muslim community to reject Bawumia and his running mate who just wants to take advantage of them for votes.

"We have lived with Christians peacefully in Ghana so tell NAPO that he can't divide us, we know who means we'll for the Muslim community and Ghanaians."
