The National Executives of the Gonjaland Youth Association (GLYA), led by President Mr. Baba Darison, have called on youth groups across Gonjaland to rally under the national association to collectively address the challenges facing the kingdom and to uphold unity, discipline, and respect for tradition.
Speaking at a stakeholders' meeting held on Friday, June 20, 2025, at the Savannah Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) in Damongo, Mr. Darison pledged his full commitment to leading the youth front with humility and accountability.
"I represent you. If something bad happens, put it on me. If it's good, take the glory," Mr. Darison told representatives of various youth associations, emphasizing the importance of collective responsibility and trust in leadership.
The meeting brought together national executives of GLYA, leaders of youth groups, and key stakeholders from across the Gonja Kingdom to deliberate on issues affecting the land and to chart a unified path forward.
In an interview with the media, the National Secretary of GLYA, Mufti Borejinkpr, explained that the key objective was to officially bring all subsidiary youth associations under the umbrella of GLYA to streamline operations and create a single channel for addressing concerns and coordinating development.
Another major issue discussed was the need to sanitize online platforms associated with Gonjaland.
Stakeholders raised concerns over the increasing use of unprintable language and disrespectful comments, particularly those targeting traditional leaders.
As part of the resolutions, specific roles were assigned to monitor and ensure responsible communication across these platforms.
Following extensive discussions, all youth groups present unanimously agreed to align with GLYA as the mother body of all youth associations in Gonjaland.
Under the new arrangement, all issues and grievances will be channeled through GLYA for resolution.
After the meeting, Mr. Darison, together with his executives and youth group representatives, paid a courtesy call on the King and Overlord of the Gonja Kingdom to present the outcomes of the engagement and outline the agreed roadmap.
The Overlord warmly received the delegation and endorsed their plans, encouraging them to remain committed to their goals.
“If you are able to achieve what you intend to do, you’ll leave a legacy during your tenure, and the credit will come to me as the Overlord of the Kingdom and to Gonjaland as a whole,” he said.
