President John Dramani Mahama has called for calm and mutual understanding between the youth of Damongo and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) following growing tensions over claims of unfair treatment and neglect by party leadership.
In recent days, the youth of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Damongo Constituency have expressed frustration over what they describe as a lack of recognition and opportunities for those who worked tirelessly to secure the party’s victory in the 2024 general elections.
They allege that jobs, contracts, and appointments have been given to individuals who either opposed the NDC or played no significant role in its success, leaving the loyal grassroots members sidelined.
Some of the aggrieved youth groups, carrying placards with various inscriptions, registered their displeasure during the commissioning of the Damongo Prisons Camp, which was graced by President Mahama.
Addressing their concerns before delivering his main speech, President Mahama urged the youth to pursue dialogue and collaboration with the MCE, stressing that constructive engagement is essential for maintaining peace, unity, and development within the municipality.
He encouraged the MCE to reach out to the youth, listen to their grievances, and work together in a spirit of mutual respect and cooperation to advance the progress of Damongo and the Savannah Region at large.
