The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the West Gonja Municipality, Hon. Yakubu Yussif Castro, on Wednesday, December 4, 2025, cut the sod for the construction and furnishing of a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound with nurses’ quarters at Sori No. 2.
The project, which is being funded through the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF), forms part of government efforts to expand access to quality healthcare at the community level.
When completed, the facility is expected to improve primary healthcare delivery and reduce the burden on residents who travel long distances to access medical services.
Addressing community members during the sod-cutting ceremony, Hon. Castro stated that the project reflects President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government’s commitment to delivering development directly to grassroots communities.
He described the initiative as “just the beginning” of several development interventions earmarked for the municipality.
The chief and people of Sori No. 2 expressed appreciation to the Municipal Assembly for the project and demonstrated their support by providing two parcels of land for consideration.
Following an inspection, one of the sites was selected for the construction of the CHPS compound.
The contractor for the project, Ibin Zack Company Limited, assured stakeholders of its readiness to commence work on schedule and deliver quality construction within the stipulated timeframe, with the possibility of completing the project ahead of schedule.
The community, on its part, pledged its full cooperation to ensure the smooth execution of the project.
