Savannah Regional Minister, Hon. Salisu Be-Awuribe Esq, has highlighted several government interventions designed to boost agriculture and improve livelihoods in the region.
Among these is the Nkokokitikiti Initiative, which provides free day-old chicks to households to encourage backyard poultry production, improve nutrition, and expand income opportunities, especially for women and youth.
To support dry-season farming and vegetable production, the Minister announced the arrival of 100 water pumping machines, which are being distributed to farmers along the Black and White Volta.
Hon. Be-Awuribe also acknowledged the continued support of development partners such as the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) under EU and Norway-funded programs, for complementing the government’s agricultural efforts.
While congratulating award-winning farmers in the region, the Minister emphasized the need for collective action among farmers, traditional authorities, researchers, the private sector, and development partners to build a resilient and food-secure Savannah Region.
He made all these pronouncements at Kuwani in the East Gonja Municipality during the Savannah Regional Farmers Day celebration.
