Savannah Region Boosts Food Security With Massive Support for Farmers — Hon. Salisu Be-Awuribe

 



Savannah Regional Minister, Hon. Salisu Be-Awuribe Esq, has announced a major agricultural boost for farmers across the region as the government rolls out interventions to strengthen food production, livestock development, and farmer resilience.


Speaking at Kuwani in the East Gonja Municipal, Hon Salisu Be-Awuribe, said a total of 150,000 day-old chicks have been supplied to selected farmers to expand the poultry value chain, enhance livestock production, and reduce household poverty. 


In addition, 36 multi-purpose threshers have been distributed to reduce post-harvest losses in several districts.


He revealed that under the Savannah Agricultural Value Chain Development Project (SADEP) in West Gonja Municipality, 1,300 bags of NPK fertilizer were supplied to 500 farmers, and 5,000 guinea fowls were distributed to 500 women farmers to support livelihoods and animal production.


Hon. Be-Awuribe also disclosed that the government has earmarked Mankango and Central Gonja for a major slope irrigation facility, with feasibility studies ongoing.


He urged all beneficiaries to make responsible use of the resources and follow technical advice to ensure improved productivity and strengthened food security within the region.
