MASLOC CEO Engages Savannah Region Traders on Access to Affordable Loans

The Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Madam Abigail Mensah Elorm, has intensified efforts to expand financial support for women and small-scale entrepreneurs through an outreach tour of the Savannah Region.

The engagement, held on Monday, June 8, 2026, took the MASLOC CEO and her team to the Damongo and Sawla markets, where they interacted with traders and market women on opportunities available under the government's microfinance support programmes.

Addressing the gatherings, Madam Elorm underscored MASLOC's commitment to empowering small businesses by improving access to affordable credit facilities and other interventions designed to stimulate economic growth and improve livelihoods.

Accompanied by senior MASLOC officials, regional executives, and women leaders, she outlined the various support packages available to traders, including low-interest loans, tricycles, vehicles, and other productivity-enhancing assistance aimed at helping beneficiaries expand their businesses and create sustainable sources of income.

The MASLOC CEO emphasized the need for beneficiaries to use the funds for their intended purposes and adhere to agreed repayment schedules.

According to her, prompt loan repayment remains essential to sustaining the revolving fund and ensuring that more entrepreneurs can benefit from the programme.

She noted that under the current arrangement, women entrepreneurs can access financial support at highly affordable rates, making it easier for them to invest in and grow their businesses.

She described financial inclusion as a key pillar in the government's broader strategy to reduce poverty and promote economic empowerment across the country.

The interactive sessions provided participants with an opportunity to seek clarification on a range of issues, including eligibility requirements, application procedures, repayment structures, and the different categories of support available through MASLOC.

Several traders also appealed for more flexible repayment plans that would better reflect the realities of their businesses.

Madam Elorm assured participants that their concerns and suggestions would be considered, stressing that MASLOC remains committed to designing interventions that respond to the needs of small-scale entrepreneurs, particularly women who form the backbone of local economies.

She further encouraged traders to organize themselves into groups where necessary to improve access to financial assistance and increase their chances of benefiting from future MASLOC programmes. She reiterated that the institution's doors remain open to hardworking individuals seeking support to expand their businesses.

As part of the visit, a registration exercise was conducted for prospective beneficiaries interested in accessing MASLOC's interventions, with many traders taking advantage of the opportunity to enroll and begin the application process for financial support.
