As Yapei United are preparing into the 2026/27 season, management and players of team paid a courtesy visit to the king and overlord of the Gonja kingdom, Jira Yagbonwura Bikunuto Jewu Soale (I) on the 28th August 2026 to seek for his blessings as part of their preparation into the new season.
According to management, last season as they came for blessings from the Yagbonwura Bikunuto Jewu Soale (I), though they couldn’t lift the trophy but where they stay in the league table was overwhelming so they deemed it possible to visit him ones again for blessings.
According to the secretary for Yapei United, Ibrahim Mafuz Sarpor, “ the new season is about to start and we can’t start the season without us coming for blessings from the King and Overlord of Gonja, Jira Yagbonwura Bikunuto Jewu Soale (I).
Last season we came for blessings though we did not top our group but we are overwhelmed for were we found ourselves.
So coming here is to first take blessings from our father the king and overlord of Gonja kingdom, and to present a citation to the king for the help he has been rendering us, also is our home and away jerseys as we have changed new ones, we deem it possible for have to have the new ones.”
In response to the management board, Chief Champewura, Alhaji Dr Abdulai Issah Bukari, acknowledged the effort of the overlord to have received their arrival but due to meeting with traditional leaders for the upcoming Damba that is to be held on Sunday, 30th August 2026 which accounts to his absenteeism.
He assured them that they are already blessed by the overlord as he always add the progress of the team to his prayers.
He also thanked the management for their continuous dedication in sponsoring the team to reach this level and lifting the name of Savannah and Gonjaland.
He also assured them of their commitment and continuous support to the team.
